Refugee Week ‘Compassion’
Old Bus Depot, 2023. In collaboration with Refugee Roots
“Art brings communities, people and thoughts together and this exhibition has allowed us all to have an equal space to share this. It’s rewarding and an honour to be able to help the participants to put ideologies aside and bring different fragments of cultures together. There is no barrier when we all have a space for our stories to be shared. We celebrate our individuality, our personal identities and narratives as one.” Diana Ali, Curator.

An archival exhibition of ‘Nottingham Women’s Centre’
This exhibition explores the rich history of Nottingham Women’s Centre and the fight for women’s rights in the city.
Starting life in a living room during the second wave of feminism in 1971, Nottingham Women’s Centre is one of the oldest organisations of its kind in the country. It was created to support women and fight for equal pay; education and job opportunities; an end to homophobic discrimination; and an end to violence against women – battles still being fought to this day.

‘Hope and Healing’
A collaboration with Refugee Roots at City Arts, Nottingham. 2022
This exhibition celebrates the hope that is felt within every session of our art group and the healing that creativity can nurture. Working with artists Antonietta Sacco and Ismail Khokon refugees and asylum seekers met in twice weekly art sessions to explore clay, collage, photography and printmaking.
Our invited curator Diana Ali who has elevated their art work to showcase their creations said “It is an honour to be asked to curate such diverse artworks, people and backgrounds. Individual creativity has been demonstrated in a shared space where different fragments of culture come together without barriers of land, language, race or religion. We have put differences aside and curated an exhibition which celebrates asylum seekers and refugees. We have a universal language in creativity where everyone has an equal voice to be able to be part of a positive
community and to co-exist.”
